About Us

Quick Summary

Bender Tree is a choose and cut Christmas tree farm who also offers precut trees in our barn and outside display. We offer wreaths, tree stands, ornaments, and more in our modest farm store. If we are not too busy, you may obtain a 4×6 photo in front of a Christmas tree backdrop. Credit cards, checks or cash are all acceptable forms of payment. Horse drawn wagon rides are available on Saturdays and Sundays during the hours and dates indicated below. Tree shaking and baling are also available for trees up to 8 ft.

Bender Christmas Tree Farm and store of Ashtabula County, Ohio is located in Sheffield Center, Ohio about 10 minutes southeast of the city of Ashtabula with easy access from I-90 or Rt. 11. It’s just 3 miles south of I-90 at the corner of Rt. 193 and Sheffield Rd. The farm was established in 1987 at this Northeast Ohio location and serves the┬ácustomers from northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania.

We are completing our 30th year since being established and 21st year of selling trees. There are choose and cut blues spruce, white spruce and white pine available. There is a good selection of larger white pine near the cabin for those interested. To offset our selection of choose and cut, we are offering precut fraser and concolor firs. Our original fields are being depleted and we are in the process of clearing and soon to be replanting. We have a large back field and started planting there several years ago for future years while we replenish the front fields.

Wagon Rides

Horse Drawn Wagon Rides: Check back next November for weekend hours

Horse drawn wagon rides are available on weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas to make your experience more fun and enjoyable. Be sure to check the schedule to enjoy this service. It is not available for all open hours. The wagon rides are free and will take you out and bring you back in with your Christmas tree.

We are sad to say that Dale Sackett passed away unexpectedly this year. Dale had originally suggested and offered his horse drawn wagon services. Dale lived close by on Rt. 193. He ran the road crews in Sheffield for many years and became a trustee. The horse drawn wagon ride was a nice improvement to the experience at the farm. His son Byron and grandson Brett will continue providing the service this season.

We also keep some sleds on hand for those who prefer walking. Trees are within walking distance.

Farm Store

Visit the Farm Store for fresh selection of holiday wreaths and greens. This year we are making our wreaths with fresh fraser fir cuttings for indoor and outdoor use. The farm store also offers tree related items such as ornaments, tree stands, lights, tree skirts, Christmas stockings, candles, tree bags and other miscellaneous items.

Bender Tree Web Store: We are pleased to say that we will be offering products online to help support growing expenses at the farm. You will start to see items becoming available there. We are presently in startup mode with a very limited offering. While we enjoy selling trees and have always put our earning back into the farm, it is never enough to cover farm expenses. We hope this will one day offer us a year round income for making more farm improvements.

Bender Tree is a small farm that does its best to provide a good service. Thanks for your interest in our farm.

Please be respectful of others and be mindful of natural hazards at the farm. We ask that you use caution to avoid accidents. There will be puddles, mud, and holes to avoid. Watch where you walk and keep an eye on your children. Pets should be leashed when others are close by. We have some sleds to help pull your kids around and trees back to the parking lot.

Our trees are grown to be cut and decorated for Christmas. All trees cannot be the perfectly full and the perfect shape. You’ll find that even an open or less than average looking tree can provide character and be adorable once decorated. They can sometimes be the easiest and fastest to set-up as well. You may find you like them. Giving them a home rather than leaving them behind will most likely save them from the mulch pile.

We like to assist with tall tree purchases when time allows. Please bring sufficient help to move and load large trees at a slow time or prearranged time before 9am.

Happy Holidays
